Rich Tears; Democrat Fears
The rich are fighting back to stop the Millionaires Tax, while some Democrats are getting cold feet and seeking compromises.
The Washington Observer reported yesterday that more than a third of Democrats have yet to commit to supporting the Millionaires Tax.
The bill would raise taxes on the rich who make more than a million dollars a year and help fix Washington’s regressive tax code.
The Millionaires Tax (ESSB 6346) will have a hearing in the House Finance Committee on Monday, Feb. 21.
And the rich are fighting hard to stop it.
So far, out of 77,777 people who “signed in” to express an opinion on the bill, less than 8% said they support the bill and “signed in pro.”
The Washington State Standard reported there are only about 21,000 Washingtonians pulling in over a million dollars a year.
Expressing an opinion is easy by visiting the Legislature’s “sign in” page.
The Balance Our Tax Code coalition has a handy Take Action page (balanceourtaxcode.com/take-action).
Next week, you can attend Legislative Town Halls and tell your legislators to tax the rich.
